Abstract:
In this paper, the additional loads placed upon tunnels caused by stratum bending (q1 and q2) and horizontal strain (qH) above the mined-out area are calculated and the allowable values of these two kinds of stratum deformation are deduced accordingly. The results show that the allowable values specified in the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Highway Engineering in the Mined-Out Area are relatively general and large, resulting in an unsafe structure. According to the comparative results and in light of the different classifications of surrounding rock, this paper puts forward some more rigorous, secure, targeted, and operable restriction requirements for stratum deformation in the mined-out area that can be used as a reference for tunnel construction workers.
