Abstract  Using the Tianhengshan Tunnel as a case study, site monitoring was performed and measurements were taken based on the RDM principle of total station to monitor the deformation of the middle wall of a shallow soil tunnel constructed by the CRD method. Furthermore, the deformation law of the middle wall was analyzed. The results show that the horizontal deformation of the middle wall is most affected by the first three steps of construction using the CRD method, convergence deformation occurs in the first and third construction steps, and the expansion deformation occurs in the second construction step. The vertical deformation of the middle wall is greatly affected by each step of CRD construction, and the wall will not be stable until the invert is fully closed.
