Abstract    Static blasting is a construction technology developed in recent years that can break and cut rocks or concrete without vibration, flying stones, noise, or pollution. This method was adopted in the shaft construction between the Antuoshan and Qiaoxiang Stations of the East Extension Line of the Shenzhen Metro line 2; the shaft was successfully excavated in the medium and slightly weathered granite, which is close to a 2500×3000 mm water box culvert. This technique ensured the safety of the water box culvert.
