Abstract The lagging ground collapse induced by shield construction in sandy pebble stratum has become a focus of attention; the critical causes of this phenomenon are ground loss and the soil arching effect. This article summarizes the main influential factors (stratum characteristics, parameters of construction, and auxiliary measures) based on the shield construction in sandy pebble stratum of the Chengdu Metro lines 1 and 2. Corresponding countermeasures are put forward regarding different ground losses.
