Abstract Considering the defects in the traditional WBS-RBS (Work Breakdown Structure-Risk Breakdown Structure) method with respect to risk identification in rail transit projects, relative studies were carried out based on the practice. The concrete method and criteria of the WBS were defined and the naming rule for each breakdown module was drawn up in order to comply with the features in occurring risk events and to overcome the disadvantages of repetition and incompleteness in the traditional WBS-RBS method. Additionally, the working process and examples of risk identification and control are presented.
