Abstract Abstract    In light of the project profile as well as the geological and hydrological conditions of the Yongdingmen-Nanshaomen running tunnel on the Xi'an metro, this paper introduces the selected design option and parameters for dewatering in the tunnel foundation pit, presents the dewatering well allocation and construction considering the geographical location and environmental and hydrological conditions, and analyzes the dynamic management measures undertaken in this project. It comes to the conclusion that the ground water can be effectively controlled by adjusting the level of the tunnel bottom and depth of the dewatering well; the impact on the environment and ground traffic will be mitigated by using proper machines, dewatering well structures, and devices; and the efficiency of drainage and dewatering will be improved through dynamic management.
