Abstract: This paper introduces the development features of a karst cavity, underground river, and karst water disclosed by the construction of the Tongzilin tunnel on the Lanzhou-Chongqing railway. Regarding the different types of karst, some treatment schemes are proposed, and a scheme analysis and comparision is discussed. At present, the tunnel has passed through the karst area successfully with no new environment problems occuring.
