Dynamic waterproof test of double sealing gaskets for shield tunnel segment ring joint

Abstract
In order to study the waterproof performance of the double sealing gaskets of the segment joint of the shield tunnel under the action of earthquake, based on the Shantou Bay Subsea Tunnel Project of the large section shield tunnel built in the high intensity earthquake area. Combined with the waterproof index of tunnel ring joint, a test device for simulating the bidirectional vibration of segment ring joints under seismic action was developed. Through the dynamic waterproof test, the results of the static waterproof test under the conditions of opening and offsetting were compared with those obtained when the effect of earthquakes was not considered. It was systematically revealed that the double sealing gaskets failed in terms of water resistance under the action of earthquake, and corresponding indicators for dynamic and static water resistance of the double sealing gaskets were proposed. The experimental results show that the dynamic waterproof stability of double sealing gaskets is higher than that of the single one. Their dynamic waterproof performance is approximately 66.67% to 78.31% of their static waterproof performance. When the double sealing gaskets leakage under the action of earthquake, the water mostly flows in a jet-like manner and the leakage patterns are diverse. The waterproof failure of the double sealing gaskets under vibration conditions are more complex and diverse compared to that of the single one.
