Abstract In order to address the fact that a gyrotheodolite cannot be directly mounted on a forced centering platform, a YJTQ-1 connecting apparatus was designed. This paper summarizes the basic requirements for this apparatus. This device was designed and finished with proper material in light of the issues pertaining to the structure of the YJTQ-1 gyrotheodolite and its application. An experimental test and data analysis were performed, with the results showing that this apparatus complies with design requirements and achieves the application goal in light of the uncertainty regarding the orientation accuracy measurement of the connecting apparatus, which was 2.0"~2.5" and 2.5"~3.1" for the tripod.
