Abstract Affected by the mining of Xinsheng coal mine and Changrong coal mine, some cracks and chip off-falling occur at the Bayueshan tunnel of Chongqing-Chengdu expressway. In order to understand the impact of coal mining on the tunnel, the tunnel displacement and deformation caused by underground mining in different stages are calculated with probability integral method, the causes of tunnel and pavement damages and deformation of the left tube after full mining of coal resources are analyzed by taking the left tunnel tube as an example, and the recommended measures for tunnel maintenance and safety are proposed. The predicted results are basically consistent with the actual conditions of tunnel and pavement damages.
