Abstract The transfer structure above a metro tunnel will affect the structure of metro tunnel underneath: (1) load relief due to foundation excavation of transfer structure will cause heaving of tunnel structure; (2) the load transmitted from the high-rise building to the transfer structure will result in deflection deformation of large-span transfer structure, and upon the transfer structure contacts with the rock-soil material it will apply additional load on metro tunnel. Taking certain project above metro tunnel as an example, the coupling influence of the load relief due to foundation excavation and dewatering is simulated, and a contrastive analysis is conducted regarding the two cases of transfer structure being laid on cushion and rock and soil. The results show that the transfer structure laid on cushion will effectively reduce the additional load transmitted to metro tunnel, the influence of transfer structure vertical deflection induced additional load on underneath metro tunnel can′t be ignored.
