Abstract The modeling of cutterhead of composite EPB shield machine usually takes a great deal of time, which not only affects the efficiency of cutterhead design, but also reduces the reliability of cutterhead assembly. A system is developed for the common cutterheads (four spokes and four plates, six spokes and six plates), a model library of two common cutterheads is established by dividing the function modules of the system, and a visual interface of cutterhead system is designed, realizing the drive of main parameters of the cutterhead model. The general method of interference checking for cutterhead model is expounded, and XML technology is adopted to manage the system data.
