Abstract The problem of insufficient clearance at the lower part is encountered when the traditional lining trolley is applied to the oil and gas pipeline tunnel with small section, and it blocks construction machinery to go through, results in construction in single tunnel construction process and so slows construction progress. The renovations of miniaturization and automation are conducted by taking the techniques of full-fit of gantry and formwork, slip bearings, integral formwork lifting and automatic control in order to maximize the clearance and make it possible for the construction machinery to pass through and realize synchronous construction of tunnel excavation, primary support and secondary lining installation as well as semi-automatic control of formwork erection in the oil and gas pipeline tunnel. The case application shows that the renovated lining formwork for the oil and gas pipeline tunnel can greatly improve construction safety, quality and efficiency and shorten construction period.
