Analysis on Sulphuration and Failures of Belt Conveyor of a Tunnel Boring Machine

Abstract The paper introduces the sulphuration process of belt conveyor of a tunnel boring machine (TBM) Model TB880E in detail and analyzes the problems which are apt to occur during the operation of belt conveyors, it also analyzes the system failures and the ways to remove them. The experience gained from Qinling tunnel and Taohuapu tunnel as well as the practices of Zhongtianshan tunnel on the Turpan-Korla Line 2 in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region indicated that these measures can efficiently reduce the damage of belt conveyor and save much time of maintenance.
