Abstract The construction of bored tunnels in water-rich sandy stratum is a difficult aspect of metro construction that often results in safety accidents due to significant settlement. Curtain grouting, horizontal jet grouting piles, and well-point dewatering were used during the tunnel driving between the Antuoshan and Qiaoxiang Stations, reducing settlement significantly. Tunnel construction followed the rules of "pipe-roof support, short advance, early enclosure and frequent measurement." This paper analyzes the causes of settlement and key techniques of settlement control as well as relative measures.
