Abstract Firstly the basic components of fuzzy theory and AHP and the calculation steps of AHP-based fuzzy comparison method are introduced. Then, using the construction of the No.2 air duct of the Dawanglu station of the Beijing Metro line 14 as an example, the two construction methods (the mined method and the cut and cover method) are compared with the AHP-based fuzzy method based on the comparison criteria of economic benefit, environmental benefit, and applicable benefit. Finally the decision of mined method is made based on all these factors.
