Modern Tunnelling Technology was founded in 1964, it is a science and technology journal circulated nationally to the public. Supervised by China Railway Engineering Group Limited, it is co-published by China Railway Southwest Research Institute Co., Ltd. and the Tunnel and Underground Works Branch of China Civil Engineering Society. It is the national Chinese core journal, the Chinese science and technology core journal, the CSCD core journal, and the RCCSE academic core journal. The Journal is indexed or abstracted by internationally well-known databases, such as the SCOPUS, JST, CSCD(Chinese Science Citation Database), CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), Wanfangdata, and CQVIP, etc. With the attention and support from our contributors, readers and reviewers, the editorial quality and academic level of the Journal have seen consistent improvement with extensive and positive reviews from the academic and engineering communities. We welcome active contributions from all colleagues in tunnels and underground engineering sector.

1.    The Journal mainly features on new methods, new technologies, new experiences and new products in terms of the theoretical research, design, construction and management of the tunnel and underground engineering profession and related fields. Articles will be evaluated for their forward-looking, innovative, practical and informative qualities.

2.    We will not return a manuscript regardless of whether it is accepted or not, so the author shall please keep his/her own copy. When an article is accepted, we will send the author the "Notification for the Acceptance of Manuscript". The author shall not contribute an article to two or more journals at the same time, and he/she will be generally informed of the result of the manuscript review within 3 months. If the author does not receive any notification within 6 months of submission, he/she shall please call or write for inquiry.

3.    A manuscript should include a title, the author's name and affiliation, an abstract, the keywords, the first author's profile, the text, and the references. If an article is for a foundation research project, the name, source and number of the foundation project shall be indicated.

 (1) The title should precisely summarize the topic of the article, avoid the use of abbreviations, and generally not exceed 20 words.

 (2) The text shall be structured with consistent Arabic numerals, e.g. "1"; "1.1", "1.2"; "1.1.1"，and "1.1.2", etc. The hierarchical numbering shall be generally less than 3 levels, and the last sublevel can be numbered in the form of "(1)" and "(2)".

 (3) In terms of an author's affiliation, the full name of all affiliations (detailed to the secondary affiliations), the province and city (county), the postal code and the country shall all be listed.

 (4) An abstract shall be a condensation of the text, and a concise and precise account of the content of the literature, and shall generally include the purposes, methods, results, and conclusions, without commentary or explanative remarks. Precautions for preparing an abstract: ① Highlight the new contributions of the article, and avoid contents from the "Introduction"; ② Do not repeat information already in the title, and avoid diagrams, mathematical equations or citations; ③ Make it a compact and complete short article; ④ Use the third person instead of expressions like "this article" and "the author", etc., as the subject; ⑤ Keep it within 50-300 words in length.

 (5) The keywords shall be the condensation of the abstract, and 4 to 8 words could be selected with reference to the List of Narrative Words for Chinese Railways, the List of Chinese Topic Words, and the Terms of Railway Science and Technologies, etc.

 (6) The first author's profile shall be laid out in the following order: name (date of birth-), gender, title, highest education, graduation time, school, major, professional and technical field or research direction, the E-mail address.

4.    For scientific and technical terms and terminology in the article, please use the common prescribed words. The content of an article should meet the requirements of national standards and different industry standards and statutory measurement units shall be adopted. The case of symbols, upper and lower markers, and the font and size of foreign language, etc. should be clearly indicated. Formulas and charts should be clear and accurate. The Journal is printed in color, so please provide color images of high definition and precision, usually 300 dpi.

 (5) Technical standards: Drafting responsibility. Standard name: standard number[S]. Place of publication: Publisher, Year

(6)  Patent Document: Patent applicant(s). Title of patent: Patent Nationality. Patent number[P]. Date of publication.

 6. For the literature, when there are no more than three authors, all of them should be listed, and when there are more than three, the first three should be listed and followed by "et al.". The name of a foreign author shall be written with the surname before the given name, and the former can be replaced by the initial without an abbreviation mark.

7.    Please include the author's personal information, name and number of the thesis topic fund project, the full name, address, postal code, telephone (cell phone), and e-mail address, etc., of the affiliation and department.

8.    The author(s) is required to translate into English the title, abstract and keywords of the article, the author's name and affiliation name, figures and name of tables.

9.    A cell phone number and E-mail address must be included in the article to facilitate contact.

10.  The manuscript should be in compliance with the national confidentiality regulations and the relevant provisions of the Copyright Law, and the author(s) shall be held responsible for any act of infringement, leakage of confidentiality and other violations.

11.  The author(s) shall ensure the authenticity, accuracy, completeness and precision of the test data, technical data and cited data in the text, and be held accountable for the relevant responsibilities arising therefrom.
