Abstract  Using a shield-driven metro tunnel with a straight joint in Shanghai soft soil as a case study, longitudinal deformation based on segment dislocation is analyzed with a detailed view of the ring joint of the tunnel segment. A safety assessment method, control criteria and assessment process are proposed, forming a safety assessment system for tunnel longitudinal deformation.
