Abstract The purpose of ventilation monitoring systems in gas tunnels is to monitor the construction environment, control the operating conditions of ventilation equipment, and to transmit data to a computer in a control room based on real-time monitoring of CH4, CO, wind velocity, and temperature. Ventilation conditions in the gas tunnel are analyzed and an early warning is given if necessary. This paper introduces the ventilation scheme, ventilation system control, and early safety warning as well as the site application of the gas monitoring system of the Meilingguan tunnel on the Lanzhou-Chongqing railway.
