Abstract  According to the development and mechanism of a collapse in the left bore of the Baishan tunnel, a comprehensive treatment scheme, which covers surface drainage, rock mass grouting, lining reinforcement and base settlement prevention, is put forward. After the implementation of this scheme, an analysis of the rules of surface subsidence, crown settlement, horizontal convergence at the haunch and side wall is performed, and the development tendencies of the water pressure behind the primary support, contact stress between the primary support and surrounding rock, axial force of the anchor, stress on the profile steel arch and stress on the secondary concrete lining are discussed. The results show that the secondary lining at the arch walls improves the condition of contact stress between the primary support and surrounding rock in a weak surrounding rock section, decreases the surface subsidence and peripheral displacement, effectively shares part of the load on the anchor and steel arch, and improves the force state of the secondary lining of the invert. With good implementation of this scheme, safe construction of the remaining sections is guaranteed.
