Abstract A large number of different vehicles such as muck trucks and supply vehicles are used during the con? struction of the tunnel. Therefore, analyzing the traffic characteristics of vehicles in the tunnel and implementing reasonable traffic organization scheme can improve transportation efficiency and operation level. In this paper, in order to evaluate the traffic organization scheme for the Yuelongmen Tunnel, the simulated traffic section of the No. 3 inclined shaft work area of the Yuelongmen Tunnel is built by using the SUMO simulation method as well as setting different sections and operation levels. The running conditions of vehicles in the tunnel under different organization schemes are obtained from two aspects, i.e., operation time and fuel consumption, emission. On this basis, sensitivity analysis of vehicle speed is performed. The results show that increasing the number of sections and appropriately increasing vehicle speed can reduce the vehicle running time and fuel consumption, emissions in the tunnel, thereby improving the tunnel construction efficiency and traffic level.
