Abstract This paper introduces the engineering survey of the construction monitoring program for the Chunguangjie Station of the Dalian Metro line 2 and analyzes the monitored data of ground settlement. Because the shallow bored tunnel is near to the ground and there are various construction procedures involving the interlacing of support and excavation, the ground deformation is complex during construction. The results showed that the ground settlement caused by tunnel excavation under artificial plain filling takes the form of a flat funnel and the characteristics of a settlement trough are obvious. The tunnel face significantly effects ground settlement during construction, with an influential area of 30m horizontally and 15m vertically. It is recommended that the monitoring points be set 15m ahead of the tunnel face, with a valid period of 70d in order to meet the stability requirement for surrounding rock.
