Abstract The gas burst section of the Queletage No.2 Tunnel is located in non-coal measure strata which itself does not generate gas, but reserve gas is emitted through the faults and influence belts on both sides. The composition and source of the gas were ascertained by geological surveying, real-time monitoring, and sampling analysis. As for the gas burst in the non-coal measure strata, such countermeasures as strengthened gas monitoring, intensive construction ventilation, and advance geological forecasts are presented.
