Abstract Based on the construction of the right line of the large-section subsea tunnel at Jiaozhou Bay, a discus?
sion was carried out regarding the construction method for the shallow-buried large-section bored tunnel. Based on a study of the recommended designed construction scheme and considering the construction experience and advanced construction concepts both at home and abroad, the safe, rapid and economically successful large-section excavation was made possible by advanced grouting, long anchor bolts, reinforcement of the longitudinal connection and weak blasting, and the technical and organization difficulties were solved in respect to the construction of the shallow-buried bored tunnel with a large-section in hard rock.
