Abstract Settlement monitoring and measuring of the ground settlement, crown settlement, convergence, surrounding rock pressure and internal force in the lining were performed at a shallow-buried hydraulic tunnel in loose ground based on the practices used for the South-North Water Diversion Project. Analysis of the ground deformation characteristics of the tunnel was carried out, and the deformation law and coverage of the excavation are presented.
