Abstract During metro construction, underground pipelines, especially gas pipelines, are often encountered in very close proximity, which significantly affects the safety and construction schedule of a bored metro tunnel. As for the Antuoshan to Qiaoxiang section of Lot 2222 of the Shenzhen Metro line 2, horizontal jet grouting piles and deep-hole curtain grouting, as well as pipeline hanging, were undertaken to effectively control settlement. This paper presents a comparison of various protection schemes as well as their implementation and effects.
