Abstract  Horizontal sound probing (HSP) and tunnel seismic prediction (TSP) are two elastic wave reflection methods whose basic principles are based on elastic wave theory. Based on the application of these two methods for tunnel geological prediction, a detailed comparative analysis was performed regarding testing methods, data collection, and processing as well as data analysis. The results show that a combined prediction method is preferred in order to realize accurate forecasting and safe construction.
