Abstract In order to solve the current technique problems regarding the pavement of the waterproof layer in tunnels, a watertight plastic component-based method for the laying of the waterproof layer (LV for short) was developed. The Plastic component consists of a convex part, a fastening part and a plugging part. There are three steps to fix the waterproof layer by the LV method: (1) punch the waterproof plate in the proper position and assemble the convex part and fastening part, (2) fix the waterproof plate on the sprayed concrete plane using steel nails through the predesigned circular hole of the convex part, and (3) plug the nail tail of convex part. An experiment for testing the watertightness of LV component was performed.
