Design and Construction Technology for a Large Underground Station Structure

Abstract:
The Hongqihegou Station is the underground interchange station connecting line 3 of the light rail and line 6 of the subway in Chongqing. It is almost the largest bored station in Asia. Based on this station, this paper addresses the design of the major structure, support, lining and construction technologies used for the large shallow underground cavern, including the tunnel group composing, the joining mode of the main tunnel and accessorial excavations, the buried depth determination, the design of the main tunnel section, excavation methods and support of the main tunnel with a large section and high sidewall. The paper specifically examines the structural design of the cross point of the light rail line 3 and subway line 6. Moreover, the finite element method was used to analyze the force features and carry out mechanical calculations. Using the above technologies, the Hongqihegou station was accomplished successfully.
