Abstract:
Little research has been done on the mechanical conditions of rock surrounding multiple crossing tunnels. A three-dimensional geomechanic model test was performed in order to understand the impact of crossing tunnels on surrounding rock based on the section crossed by three caverns of the No.3 water tunnel in the Jinping hydropower station, revealing the interaction of crossing caverns and the impact of excavation and support methods on the stability of the surrounding rock. The failure mode and its process of crossing caverns are determined by an overload test.
